Essentials Hoodie & Tracksuit: Why I Keep Wearing the Same Thing Over and Over Again

I didn’t expect to love the Essentials Hoodie as much as I do. I’ll be honest — when I first saw the price, I laughed a little. “It’s just a hoodie,” I thought. Plain color, small print on the front, oversized fit like everything else on the market right now.
And then I tried it on.
You know when something just fits differently? Like, yeah, it’s still a hoodie, but it feels better. Heavier. Warmer. You throw it on, and suddenly you get it. That’s what happened with me and the Essentials Hoodie — and eventually, the Essentials Tracksuit too.
At First, I Didn’t Get the Hype
A few friends kept talking about Fear of God and how clean their Essentials line was. I kind of brushed it off at first. Looked nice, sure. But everything looked kinda basic to me. Neutral colors, boxy cuts, “ESSENTIALS” printed in Helvetica — didn’t seem like something I needed.
Then one day, I found an Essentials Hoodie on sale. Threw it on in a dressing room out of curiosity.
It felt different. Heavy cotton. Wide sleeves. Big hood. The way it draped made me look like I knew how to dress, even though I’d just thrown it over the same pair of jeans I wore all week.
So yeah, I bought it.
And Then Came the Tracksuit
The Essentials Tracksuit was next. I bought the hoodie first, then ended up getting the joggers a month later. It’s not even a full set, technically — different drops, slightly different tones — but together, it works. Really well.
The thing is, the Essentials Tracksuit makes you feel like you tried, even if you didn’t. It’s comfortable, but it doesn’t look lazy. I’ve worn it to airports, to coffee shops, to dinner with friends. I’ve taken naps in it. It’s that kind of outfit.
And because it’s so neutral, you don’t overthink anything. White tee, hoodie, joggers, done. Pair it with sneakers and maybe a cap, and you’re good to go.
Not Gonna Lie, I Wear Them Too Much
I probably wear my Essentials Hoodie four or five times a week. Same with the joggers. I own other clothes — I swear I do — but I just keep coming back to these.
There’s something low-maintenance about it. No logos screaming for attention. No patterns to match. Just solid, clean, comfortable.
Even people who don’t care about fashion notice. I had a coworker ask me where I got my hoodie. I told him and he said, “I’ve seen that brand everywhere. Thought it was just influencer stuff.”
I get it. That’s what I thought, too. Until I wore it.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind
Okay, real talk — here’s what I wish I knew before I bought:
- The sizing is big. Like, really big. If you don’t like the oversized look, size down.
- Restocks are weird. Sometimes stuff sells out and doesn’t come back for months.
- Prices aren’t cheap. But how much do I wear it? Worth it.
If you’re looking for a crazy statement piece, this isn’t it. But if you want something you’ll actually wear — like, all the time — this might be your thing.
Final Thoughts (And Yeah, I’m Still Wearing It)
I’ve bought a lot of hoodies in my life. I’ve had zip-ups, pullovers, Nike Techs, Champion reverse weave — you name it. The Essentials Hoodie just hits different. Same with the Essentials Tracksuit. There’s no big secret to it. It just fits well, feels good, and looks better than it should.
I know this whole write-up might sound like a love letter to a hoodie and sweatpants, but whatever. I like what I like. And these? I really like.
If you’re on the fence, just try one. Doesn’t have to be the full Essentials Tracksuit right away. Start with the hoodie. Wear it for a week. Then tell me it didn’t become your favorite thing in your closet.
Because it probably will.
